About Our Bootcamps

  • How do I book bootcamp classes?

All you need to do is choose the right timetable based on where you want to train and sign-up online for the classes you want to attend. If you'd like to book on your phone BUF Bondi and BUF Newcastle have their own iPhone and Android apps, or you can use the  for any BUF Girls location. Once you've signed up you'll get a welcome email with a link to sign your health waiver and then just show up on the day!

Make sure to get started with our Introductory Offer - look for "Get Started" on your preferred location page.

  • What kind of training will I be doing?

Check out the description for each class on your location's timetable by clicking the class name. The sessions we do are a mix of cardio, functional movement, boxing and free weights to really keep your body guessing. Some locations also provide Yoga classes to keep your muscles long and flexible and your mind calm, fresh and focused.

Weights are important because we need to build a little lean muscle in order to help our bodies burn more fat when we’re not exercising. But don’t worry, it’s not the kind of program where you’ll bulk up – our workouts are designed specifically for women and target the problem areas of our bodies (yes, it is possible!), helping us to develop long, lean, healthy bodies.

All sessions are designed to be loads of fun so you will actually enjoy yourself and find it easier to stick with it (no more gym memberships you never actually use!). When combined with the right nutrition advice we have a proven formula to achieve amazing results in a short period of time.

  • How much does it cost?

All our pricing is on each of our location pages. Pricing varies from location to location due to different council fees for use of public spaces like parks and beaches.

Group training costs a little more than working out by yourself at the gym, and a lot less than seeing a personal trainer. It’s a nice middle ground if you don’t want to have to think about your workout and like having someone to push you to make the most of your training time. You also won’t get very far if your nutrition isn’t right and we’ll help you with that too.

Our most popular option is our Platinum membership which gives you unlimited access to any/all sessions and locations. All memberships and casual options can be purchased through our online store. There is absolutely no joining fee or other hidden fees. Memberships are week to week, there are no contracts so you can pause or cancel at any time with a week’s notice – simply contact us to make any changes.

To get started, look for the Introductory Offer available at your preferred location.

  • How can I pause or cancel my membership?

Memberships are week to week, there are no contracts so you can pause or cancel at any time with a week’s notice – simply contact us to make any changes.

  • Where can I find you?

Each of our location pages has a map showing where you can find the group. If in doubt, give us a call!

  • What do I need to bring?

All you need are your trainers, your gym gear, a water bottle and a sweat towel (optional). If it’s your first time make sure your complete your Health and Waiver Form first - once you've signed up check your welcome email for details. If you didn't get an email or you can't find it, please contact us.

  • Why do I need to sign up for classes?

This just helps us control numbers so that classes don’t get too big, particularly during summer! It also means we can make sure we have enough trainers and equipment available for you at each session.

  • What results can I expect?

We tend to focus on exercising to feel great but if you’re not happy with your body shape then of course the right exercise and nutrition can help create some positive changes. How much change is up to you – we can promise you the world but ultimately, you’ll get out what you put in. You can train all you like but if your diet sucks, then you probably won’t get very far! But, if you take a holistic approach then you can expect to achieve some great results. Most of our customers are blown away by how quickly they lose cm off their arms, waist and thighs if that’s what is important for them. One word of warning though: don’t be obsessed with weight alone! Muscle weighs a lot more than fat, so if you’re already reasonably fit you might be surprised to find that you weigh the same but are a lot slimmer.

If you’d like more specific information on results, you might like to check out some of our Customer Stories.

  • Am I fit enough?

Please don’t worry about being able to keep up, LOTS of our girls were worried about their fitness or size before they started but we work with all levels of fitness and design our sessions to allow people to go at their own pace. The culture at BUF Girls is very inclusive and not at all competitive, the most important thing is to just start. If you’re particularly worried though, have a word with your trainer before class and they can help to make sure you get some extra love and attention.

  • What if I'm injured?

Depending on the injury or issue this is usually fine. We can alter most exercises to accommodate things like bad backs, knees, ankles, etc. Just make sure to let us know in advance so we can plan for you. And make sure it's ok with your health care professional first!

  • What happens if it’s raining?

We’re a committed bunch so we train rain, hail or shine. We do try to move things under cover where possible, but a trainer will always be waiting at the usual spot. From time to time we’ll cancel a session due to extreme weather, so the best thing to do is ‘Like’ the Facebook Page of your preferred location and keep an eye out for updates.

  • How do I get started?

To get started, look for the Introductory Offer available at your preferred location (the information you need is under "Get Started") and then sign up online!

  • Are the classes really big?

We like to keep our classes smaller than a regular bootcamp to give you a more personal experience with loads of support and guidance. If numbers get large, we either split into two classes or roster on additional Trainers onto the class so there's always a good ratio of trainers.

  • How often can I attend?

That depends on your Membership. If you’ve signed up for a Platinum Membership you can attend as many sessions you like every week. A Gold Membership gives you access to 3 sessions a week, a Silver Membership gives you 2. We also have casual options available.

  • I need help booking into sessions!

All you need to do is select the right timetable based on your location, then click the Sign Up button next to the class you want to attend. Too easy!

  • Do you have Mums and Bubs classes?

BUF Newcastle, BUF Balmoral, BUF Bayswater and BUF Shoalhaven offer BUF Mums classes which are small group personal training sessions exclusively for mums who want to get BUF (nope, it’s not a boot camp!). And the best bit? There are babysitters on board to keep the little ones entertained while you workout.

    What are the sessions like?
BUF Mums classes are fun, social and definitely not daunting. It’s a Group Personal Training session, not a boot camp. We have a high ratio of trainers to Mums to give you a personal training experience with lots of attention and support for less than the cost of a PT session.
We program a lot of variety into our sessions, so even if you come every day, you’ll never do the same session twice. Plus we customise our sessions for different fitness levels, or for conditions like pelvic floor dysfunction or abdominal separation.

Is my bub part of the workout?
Nope, you lift your bub enough. It’s time for some time to yourself, so leave bub with our babysitters and enjoy the sun, fresh air and company!

Where is my bub looked after?
Our babysitters run organised activities for the kids to keep them engaged and entertained, they set up nearby the workout so you can always see them. Sometimes we have messy type activities that use paint, or water etc so dress the kids in clothes that won’t matter if they get a bit dirty!
Just a note the important, legal stuff! Our babysitters are there to help your kids have loads of fun, and give you some ME time! However, they remain in your care at all times, and you are ultimately responsible for them + their safety. Please feel free to offer the babysitters direction/s that will help them give your kids the best experience possible!

Do I need to be fit? Is it suitable for all fitness levels?
We design our sessions for Mums of all fitness levels – whether that’s providing a safe and effective return to exercise after bub is born, helping you make a return to exercise if you haven’t trained in a long time, or giving you a challenging session if you already have a high level of fitness.

I’m pretty fit, will I still be challenged?
Definitely! If it has been a while since your last birth and you’re back to your fighting fit self, we’ll program more challenging options for you.

I’ve just had a baby. When can I start?
You can start after 6 weeks, as long as your Dr has given you a medical clearance to do so. To get started, you’ll need to give the trainer at your first class a letter from your Doctor giving clearance and any additional information regarding special considerations for exercise.

I have a weak pelvic floor and/or abdominal separation – is that an issue?
These are super common for new Mums (and people in general, men included), and we can help you rehab pelvic floor dysfunction or abdominal separation. Just let us know in advance, our workouts are customised so it’s comfortable and safe for you.

Is it a big boot camp?
Nope, these are Group Personal Training sessions, not boot camps. We keep our numbers small, or provide extra trainers to ensure you get a personal training experience with personal support, guidance and motivation, within a fun, social environment.

    How long are the sessions?
    Sessions run for 45mins.

How many baby sitters are there?
It depends on the number of Mums booked in, but usually two.

Is there an age limit for kids?
    Nope.

Is there a limit to how many children I can bring?
    Nope, the more the merrier.

  • Images, Marketing + Social Media

We take a bunch of pics at our sessions and some are used on social media or for different marketing campaigns. If you do not want you and/or your kids images to be used for this purpose please let us know. We will make sure that we follow your instruction on this, we totally understand!

  • Am I fit enough?

Please don’t worry about being able to keep up, we work with all levels of fitness and design all our programs to allow people to go at their own pace. The culture at BUF Girls is very inclusive and not at all competitive, the most important thing is to just start. If you’re unsure in any way, please contact us to discuss your situation before you begin. We always recommend getting advice from your health professional before beginning any exercise program.

  • Is this a fad diet? Am I going to have to starve myself?

No, definitely not! We don’t believe in going without or counting calories… it’s just not sustainable and can create unhealthy obsessions with food. Instead, we believe in feeding our bodies highly nutritious and healthy food that’s delicious and satisfying. We’ll teach you how to make healthy choices that will last a lifetime.

  • I've tried so many things before, will this actually work for me?

If you’ve been on the diet bandwagon before, that’s probably where you went wrong in the first place. Dieting doesn’t work… full stop. Sure, restricting your calories for a period of time will cause you to lose weight, but if it’s not sustainable you can cause more harm than good. What we focus on is understanding how to make healthy choices that aren’t a sacrifice, they’re simply choosing a better option.

We also focus less on chasing the perfect body because we don't want you obsessing about exercise. We work on creating a positive and healthy association with exercise because it makes you feel happy, strong and alive. That positive association is so critical because it changes exercise from something you have to do to something you want to do. We tend to do a lot more of the things we enjoy doing and avoid the things we don't, and that is the secret to being fit and healthy.

  • What if I struggle with motivation?

One of the bits of feedback we always get is that this is the first program that girls actually stick to! It’s because it’s not a big mountain you have to climb all by yourself, we take you through things in a really easy step by step process. Plus the whole BUF community is there to support you every step of the way through things like our where you can also ask your trainers anything you like at any time.

  • Is it just for women?

The programs are designed for women and we only allow women into our private Facebook group, but we highly recommend getting your partner, friends and relatives involved in your workouts and recipes. It’s a lot more fun doing this as a team!

If you're looking for something for your man, send them over to the online program of our sister business AGOGA which is coming soon!

  • I'm a bootcamp member, do I need a separate account?

Yes, if you train with BUF Girls at any of our bootcamps, please note that this is a separate system from where you’d normally book your group sessions so you’ll need to create a new account by signing up to your preferred online program.

• Do you offer Corporate Health and Wellness programs?

Yes, why not bring BUF Girls to work! We offer special rates for corporates who'd like to sign up for any of our online programs. We also offer private group training sessions and/or health and fitness talks at your office. Please contact us for more information.

  • Do you provide meal plans?

Yes, but we don't focus on meal plans because the best thing we can do for you is to teach you how to choose the right nutrition for yourself. Knowledge is power, and in fact understanding why you should choose certain foods will make it so much easier to stick to healthy eating, which isn't hard if you know what to look for and that's what we'll teach you. However, we understand some people like the structure of meal plans so we do provide an example meal plan in Totally BUF for this purpose.

About BUF Girls

  • Where does "BUF Girls" come from?

BUF stands for Beautiful, Unstoppable and Fearless which is exactly how you’ll feel when you walk away from a BUF workout or event.

BUF Girls originally started in the Spring of 2010 when our founder, Libby Babet had the realisation that existing fitness offerings for women were pretty intimidating and not really designed to emphasise the female body shape. Libby really wanted to create a community just for girls, that made them feel accepted and connected to each other, and helped reframe their fitness experience so they really wanted to workout, rather than just feeling as if it were something they ‘should’ do. That was when the concept of building a training business based around fun, themed experiences and uncomplicated nutrition ideas that would really change lives for the long run came about.

Being a BUF Girl isn’t about competition, body image or comparison. It’s not about being the fittest, the skinniest or the hottest. It’s about friendship and community. It’s about healthy bodies AND healthy minds. It’s about inspiring, supporting and celebrating each other as the beautiful women we all are, in our own unique ways. It’s about forgetting about working out to chase a shallow ideal of beauty, and training because of how it makes us feel – happy, healthy, balanced, alert, calm, centred, strong, fearless, powerful, unstoppable… and if we want to change the way the world sees us girls, we need to be the change we want to see.
